This One's For Nathan

Okay, Nathan is probably already aware of the news that Sam Raimi is involved in two new Evil Dead movies. The first one is going to be a remake of Evil Dead. It actually is going to combine the first and second films and will have a new director and a new cast. Apparently, Raimi was quite impressed with the recent Dawn of the Dead remake and thought it would be a good idea to let someone take a crack at reimagining Evil Dead for a current audience. We'll see how that goes. He's going to be overseeing it, so hopefully it will turn out cool.

The more interesting news? There's going to be an Evil Dead 4, and it will indeed star the mini-god Bruce Campbell. (Subliminal message: See Bubba Ho-Tep.) Bloody Disgusting has the brief lowdown on Evil Dead 4:

Raimi will be directing and producing Evil Dead 4, which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that "This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original".

Ted and Sam Raimi have begun writing Part 4, and will be developing it for production later this year.

I guess it's time to Netflix the Evil Dead trilogy. It's been too long since I've seen it and, frankly, I don't remember it all too well.
