What "The Between" Is About

Update (January 27, 2005): The mission statement below remains essentially the same except I want to broaden out what I will write about to all forms of creativity. I realize that is very broad and for the most part I will still be focused on books, movies, television and music. However, I plan to delve into photography and paintings, comics and so on. Basically, I want to talk about creativity, in whatever form that takes. I also will be incorporating my own creativity from time to time. I will be posting pictures I have taken, usually accompanied with some kind of explanation or tale. I may also post some a short story or two that I've written, but I haven't made a final decision on that. Now, back to the original post:


I tried to explain what this blog will be about in the first post, but I don't think I did a clear enough job. Furthermore, after a night of thinking on it, my aims for the blog have become a bit wider.

The Between is an arts and media blog. The main focus of the blog will be on books, movies, television and music. However, I will, from time to time, incorporate other forms of art and media. I may write about video games, photography, visual art and so on. The main theme is that I will write about what interests and affects me. The meat of the blog will be posts about specific works and artists and how they have burrowed into my head, changed my views on life and altered the way I live. At times, these posts will look something like reviews and other times they will be more akin to personal rambles. At all times, I hope they will be intriguing and entertaining.

There will also be posts about these various forms of art and media in a less personal sense. These will be less a journey into my head and more of a pointing out of interesting sites, articles and information. The purpose of these posts will simply be about making you aware of whatever is currently interesting me in the hopes that you will find it interesting as well.

That currently is the plan for The Between. I'm going to put a permanent link to this post in the sidebar for visitors. If this mission statement changes, I'll update this post and make a note of it next to the link in the sidebar.
